WORLD
VISION
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. Wherever we work, our prayer is that our efforts will be used by God to heal and strengthen people’s relationships with Him and with one another. We do this by demonstrating God’s unconditional love for all people through our service to the poor — which includes providing for daily needs, working to build peace and promote justice, and partnering with churches and individuals to encourage spiritual transformation.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. Also, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor—sweat equity—into building their Habitat house and the houses of others

KIVA
Kiva's
mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating
poverty. Kiva is the world's first
person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly
to unique entrepreneurs around the globe. When you browse
entrepreneurs' profiles on the site, choose someone to lend to, and then make a
loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic
independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their community.
Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email
journal updates and track repayments. Kiva partners with existing expert
microfinance institutions. In doing so, we gain access to
outstanding entrepreneurs from impoverished communities world-wide. Our partners
are experts in choosing qualified entrepreneurs.

From that inspiration grew an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and friendship. http://www.peacecorps.gov/index.cfm
ONE LAPTOP PER CHILDThe mission of One Laptop per Child (OLPC) is to empower the children of developing countries to learn by providing one connected laptop to every school-age child. In order to accomplish our goal, we need people who believe in what we’re doing and want to help make education for the world’s children a priority, not a privilege. OLPC’s mission is to provide a means for learning, self-expression, and exploration to the nearly two billion children of the developing world with little or no access to education. By giving children their very own connected XO laptop, we are giving them a window to the outside world, access to vast amounts of information, a way to connect with each other, and a springboard into their future. http://www.laptop.org/en/index.shtml

THE ONE CAMPAIGN
ONE is Americans of all beliefs and every walk of life - united as ONE - to help make poverty history. We are a campaign of over 2.4 million people and growing from all 50 states and over 100 of America's most well-known and respected non-profit, advocacy and humanitarian organizations. As ONE, we are raising public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in the world's poorest countries. ONE is nonpartisan; there's only one side in the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty. Working on the ground in communities, colleges and churches across the United States. Everyone can join the fight. The goal of ending poverty may seem lofty, but it is within our reach if we take action together as one. http://www.one.org/
